Reunion Committee at work

Four members of the Reunion Committee, and their spouses, met earlier this month at the Readington Diner on Route 22 for an informal discussion of plans for an HTHS '62, 50th reunion.
Left to right, above; Ernie and Nancy [Whalen] Goldsmith, Tom and Doris Polese, Ed and Lou [Bace] Hogan, and Ed and Mary Lou Guididas.

I'm sure we can prevail upon them for more info about what is going on. They look like they had a good time.

Retreat, Hell!

Frank Reitemeyer also sent along this little gem that lies along the HTHS memory lane. He says he doesn't remember any of it. Just the reason for it. I have a different take.

Here's a Gonzaga Retreat quiz:
A. Who was entrusted with the keys to, The Buttery?
B. Who is not present in this photo?
C. Who brought a squirt gun to this solemn occasion?

And for extra credit:
Can anyone remember what it was we were supposed to write down and put into envelopes for some later reference or reason and what happened to (some of) those mystery missives?

Did the girls have anything comparable to this? If so, any pictures of it?

Frank rightly recalled that the Gonzaga retreat was mandated by Fr. John. No retreat - no Senior prom admission. His prom date was, Janet Roguski (Jodziewicz), and he could not believe his good fortune that she consented to go with him. I went with, Helene (Eeny) Douress, who, BTW, was one of the reasons I wound up in California in 1972.
With who/whom - I still can't figure out which is correct - did you go to the Senior Prom ?

One last thought regarding Fr. John's irascible demeanor towards us Seniors: Remember the all or nothing vote that was held on another one of his ideas - Senior blazers? That Chinese boy in Tianamen Square pales in insignificance to the stand we all took against tyranny that day in room 201. Well, OK, maybe that's a reach.

I'll mention this again. If you'd like to see the larger size of any photo on this blog, just left click on it. Dig those shiny chinos.

Frank and Eileen Reitemeyer

Frank Reitemeyer sent in these photos of him and his wife, Eileen, above, at Wrightsville Beach, NC, and a sampling of his second passion, sailing. Frank says that he and Eileen have a wonderfully simplistic system for division of labor: He helps her 3 days with her passion, gardening, and then he gets to spend 2 days working on his 35' C&C Landfall sloop, Spirit. Sounds fair enough.
Spirit, at Still Pond, Frank's favorite anchorage.
                                         Sailing along in Beaufort Inlet
Home from the sea. Spirit, at the dock. Frank and Eileen enjoy sailing around the Chesapeake Bay, their home base, and have sailed as far north as Long Island Sound, off  Connecticut, and as far south as the Florida Keys. He mentions that that trip was pretty rough and they had to seek shelter in marinas almost all the way until they had better weather in Florida. He also says that if you want to get directions to Spanish named destinations you're better off asking the janitor at the local Chamber of Commerce, because that's what the C of C Information people have to do.

Frank and Eileen have two daughters. Nora, works at NYU as an Event Planner for their German Dept. Kate, and her family, lives in Butler, Pa. and works for Pittsburgh Univ. as a Veterinary Assistant in their Animal Research Dept.
